What I Can Help With

From a sluggish Mac that needs a fresh OS install to an older machine that Apple stopped supporting, there are more options than most people realize. Here's what I offer for Mac and Apple software support.

macOS Reinstall & Upgrade

If your Mac is running slow, behaving strangely, or you just want a clean slate, a fresh macOS install can make a big difference. I handle the full process including making sure you're on the right version for your hardware and that your data is backed up before anything gets touched.

macOS Software Troubleshooting

Apps crashing, slow performance, weird system behavior, startup issues. These are all software problems that can often be fixed without wiping anything. I diagnose what's going on and take the most targeted approach to get your Mac running the way it should.

iCloud Troubleshooting

iCloud syncing issues, photos not loading, storage problems, sign-in errors. iCloud can be frustrating when it doesn't work right. I can help sort out most iCloud software issues and get things syncing properly again.

Time Machine Backup Setup

Time Machine is one of the best backup tools available on any platform but a lot of Mac users have never set it up or don't know if it's actually running. I can get it configured properly so your files are automatically backed up without you having to think about it.

Give It New Life

Your Old Mac Isn't Dead. It Just Needs Linux.

Apple stops releasing macOS updates for older hardware after a certain point. When that happens, most people think their machine is done. It isn't. Mac hardware from 2012 to 2018 can often run Linux beautifully, and in many cases it'll run faster than it ever did on macOS.

I install Linux Mint Cinnamon as my go-to distro. It's stable, user-friendly, and looks familiar enough that most people pick it up quickly. Linux also has an enormous range of design and customization options. If you want it to look and feel exactly like macOS that's possible. If you want something completely different and visually striking that's possible too. The possibilities are genuinely limitless in a way that Windows and macOS simply aren't.

Dramatically Faster

Linux is lightweight by nature. Older Mac hardware that struggled under macOS often runs noticeably faster with Linux installed.

Unlimited Customization

Want it to look like macOS with a Plank dock and the WhiteSur theme? Done. Want something totally unique? Also done. Linux lets you design your desktop however you want.

Secure & Supported

Linux Mint receives regular security updates. No more running an unsupported OS that Apple has abandoned.

Free Forever

Linux is completely free. No subscription, no license fee, no upgrade costs. You own it outright just like your hardware.

Honest Expectations

What You Should Know Before You Come In

I'd rather be upfront about limitations than have you leave disappointed. Here are the honest things worth knowing about Mac software support.

Apple Account Lockouts Are Apple's Problem

If you've forgotten your Apple ID credentials and your Mac is locked, that recovery process goes through Apple directly. It can be a lengthy process and it's not something I handle. Apple Support is the right call for account-level lockouts.

WiFi May Not Work Out of the Box on Linux

Many older Macs use Broadcom WiFi cards that have limited Linux driver support. In some cases WiFi works perfectly, in others it requires extra steps, and in some configurations it may not work at all. Ethernet always works reliably. I'll be upfront about what to expect for your specific model before the install happens.

Not Every Mac Is a Good Candidate

Some Mac models have hardware quirks, thermal issues, or firmware limitations that can make any software work difficult regardless of what OS you're running. Results vary by model and year. I'll check your specific machine before committing to anything and tell you honestly what's realistic.

No Apple Hardware Repairs

Cracked screens, bad batteries, broken keyboards, logic board issues. I do not work on Apple hardware at all. Software support only. For hardware repairs, Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider is the right place.
