My Approach
Thorough by Default. No Shortcuts.
A lot of places will run one scan, call it done, and hand your device back. That's not how I work. When your device comes in for a malware cleaning, I treat it like a full investigation. I back up your data first, use multiple specialized tools, check the places most people overlook, and make sure it leaves cleaner than it arrived. Here's the kind of approach I take on every job.
Data Backup First — Always
Before anything else gets touched, your important files are backed up. Documents, photos, videos, whatever matters to you. Malware removal tools are thorough by design, and protecting your data is non-negotiable. You'll never lose a file on my watch.
Multi-Tool Malware Scanning
No single tool catches everything. I use a combination of industry-trusted scanners including Malwarebytes, which works across Windows, Mac, and Android, along with the platform's built-in security tools and ADWCleaner for adware and browser hijackers. Using multiple scanners means threats that slip past one get caught by another.
Junk & Clutter Cleanup
Malware often hides behind piles of temporary files and system junk. I use tools like BleachBit to clear out the clutter. Not because it's a magic fix, but because a clean system is easier to audit, runs better, and gives malware fewer places to hide.
Startup & Background Programs Audit
Malware commonly embeds itself in startup entries so it runs every time your device boots. I manually go through everything set to launch automatically and remove anything suspicious or unnecessary. This also tends to make your device boot noticeably faster as a side effect.
Browser Deep Clean
Malicious browser extensions are one of the most common infection vectors and one of the most overlooked. I check every browser on your device across all platforms and remove anything that doesn't belong, including hijacked homepages, rogue extensions, and unwanted search engine changes.
OS & Software Updates
Outdated operating systems are one of the leading causes of infections. This applies to Windows, macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS alike. Hackers exploit known vulnerabilities in unpatched software. Before your device leaves, I make sure the OS and critical software are current so those doors are closed.
Prevention Recommendations
Once your device is clean, I'll give you my honest take on how to keep it that way. That might be Malwarebytes Premium for real-time protection, safer browsing habits, or just a few settings worth changing. I'll never push you to buy anything, but I'll always tell you what I'd personally recommend.
Exterior Cleaning — On the House
This one's on me. If your device comes in with dust, smudges, or grime on the outside, it goes back to you clean. A microfiber wipe-down takes two minutes and costs nothing. You paid to have your device fixed, it should look and feel good when you get it back.
Platforms
I Work on More Than Just Windows
Malware doesn't discriminate by operating system and neither do I. If your device is acting up, I can help regardless of what it's running.
Windows
The most common target for malware. Full multi-tool cleaning process, startup audit, browser clean, and updates.
macOS
Macs get malware too. Adware and browser hijackers are especially common. Full cleaning and security review.
Linux
Less common but not immune. I can audit, clean, and harden Linux systems for home and small business users.
ChromeOS
Chromebooks can still get browser-based infections and extension hijacks. I'll get your browser clean and locked down.
Android
Android devices can carry malware too. Malwarebytes is available on Android and I can run a full clean on your phone or tablet.
Warning Signs
Does Your Device Need a Cleaning?
You don't need to know for certain before bringing it in. That's what the diagnostic is for. But here are the most common signs something is wrong:
Sudden Slowdown
A device that used to run fine is now sluggish, freezing, or taking forever to start up.
Pop-Ups & Ads
Constant pop-ups, fake alerts, or ads appearing even when you're not browsing the web.
Browser Redirects
Your homepage changed, searches go to the wrong site, or new toolbars appeared that you didn't install.
Locked Files or Ransomware
Files you can't open, strange extensions on your documents, or messages demanding payment.
Overheating or Fan Running Constantly
Malware running in the background consumes processing power and causes your device to run hot and loud.
Friends Getting Spam From You
People you know are receiving strange emails or messages from your accounts that you didn't send.
Think Your Device Has a Virus?
Don't wait. Malware can get worse over time and put your personal information at risk. Call, text, or fill out the form and I'll get your device cleaned up fast.
